How To Ask For A Job Promotion From The Boss
Asking for a job promotion is sometimes a very uncomfortable task for some people. A job promotion generally is a measure of your ability to perform your current duties well. To receive a job promotion, you must be worthy of the promotion. One of the most important steps you must do before asking for a promotion is to evaluate your own job performance levels. To evaluate your own job performance levels you must be honest and truthful with the following questions.
Are you doing your best to perform the tasks you have been entrusted with now? Do you manage your work time effectively? Are you punctual at your job? Do you perform the job duties you have with effectiveness and concern for company time? If you can answer these questions with all “yes” answers than you are ready to ask for a job promotion. If you can’t answer these questions with a “yes”, than it is not the time to ask for advancement.
You must establish that there is a position that you are capable of performing. You must match your abilities in a formal written and verbal request asking for the promotion to this position. Time is a key element and the position must be applied for as quickly as possible. Remember a verbal and a formal written request for the position are usually required. Establish your interest quickly and effectively with your department head. A cover letter and a resume updated with your service records for the current company you are working for should be submitted to human resources. In your cover letter match your abilities with the new position and describe abilities that are relevant to the new possible job advancement. Raises generally are part of advancement.
Raises will be talked about at the end of the interview process. Find out before you interview for the new job position, what that type of pay that the new higher position pays. A current employee that is in excellent standings is generally the logical candidate to receive affirmative action when applying for the new position within the same company. Make your experience you have from working for the company stand out above other applicants. In your resume you submit for the new position reference your abilities that match the new position. Always remember your employer wants a person that they feel can perform the job with effectiveness and precision.
